Gutters and downspouts prevent water that falls on the roof from dripping down the sides of your home or business and collecting near the foundation. They also prevent water from sheeting off the roof and falling directly onto people in entrances, driveways, and walkways. Gutters will also help prolong the life of your paint, siding, and concrete.

If the drainage function of gutters is compromised, water will spill over and drip down the sides of your house and/or business. Eventually this may damage the siding, windows, and doors and endanger the building seals that keep your place water-tight resulting in water leaks.

Heat loss through the roof causes snow to melt. The melted snow (water) runs down the roof and when it crosses the eave line where temperatures are colder, the water freezes and builds up as an ice dam.
